SENIOR LEADERS ARE SAYING
The Soldier's job is to heal. That means they're going to their
appointments, taking their therapies, doing their treatments as prescribed,
taking their medications as prescribed. It's their job. The cadre's job is
to ensure they set the conditions for the Soldier to do their job and we
hold them accountable." -Brig. Gen. Mike Tucker, director of the Army
Medical Action Plan team, told reporters on Oct. 19.
TODAY'S FOCUS
Central Technical Support Facility
What is it? The Central Technical Support Facility (CTSF), Fort Hood, Texas,
has been established as the U.S. Army's strategic and central testing
facility responsible for Intra-Army Interoperability Certification (IAIC)
testing of Army systems, applications, and hardware that provide net-enabled
capabilities to warfighters. The CTSF will focus on providing validated test
data to the Department of the Army and Joint Agencies to validate
interoperability certifications. It is one of the Army's testing centers of
excellence for ensuring system compliance with DOD net-centric concepts and
directives.
What has the Army done? The Army is institutionalizing the methodology by
which its Chief Information Officer/G 6 certifies systems. The CTSF, as a
test center of excellence, will enable the Army to gain greater efficiency,
effectiveness and security.
What efforts does the Army plan to continue in the future? The CTSF will
conduct the testing for the Headquarters Department of the Army Chief
Information Officer/G-6 certification of all systems and components
requiring IAIC before insertion into the Operating Force.
Why is this important to the Army? The CTSF's efforts as a testing center of
excellence will facilitate the achievement of interoperability of all Army
information systems requiring IAIC across all Mission Areas and associated
Domains. This will improve the Army's IAIC testing, configuration management
and cross collaboration and coordination capabilities to ensure
interoperability of net-centric capabilities required by warfighters.
