TODAY'S FOCUS
Comprehensive Care Plan
What Is It?
The Comprehensive Care Plan is what the Army uses to offer a holistic
approach to how Warriors in Transition, receive care, support and services.
It begins with a complete assessment of the Warrior in Transition including
the mind, body, heart and spirit.
Truly Comprehensive Care:
* Focuses on physical injuries and mental illnesses equally.
* Provides compassionate support with relationship coaching and life skills
development.
* Offers opportunities to grow and develop vocational, recreational, and
other skills.
* Returns Warriors in Transition successfully to duty, or to an independent
civilian life.
What has the Army Done?
The Army recognized that Soldiers heal better when surrounded by their
Families and when engaged in productive, stimulating activities during the
healing process. The Comprehensive Care Plan ensures Soldiers and their
Families get the tools, resources and support needed to heal. Each Warrior
in Transition and Family receives a care plan tailored to the needs of the
mind, body, heart and spirit.
Specialized care, support and services:
* Physical rehabilitation and sports therapies re-energize the body.
* Pain management and addiction therapy keep the person at a healthy
balance.
* Behavioral health treatment and relationship counseling keep the mind in
focus.
* Occupational and life skills therapies keep the person productive and
self-assured.
What does the Army have planned for the future?
To keep Warriors in Transition on the path to success, the Army has a series
of specific assessment activities planned, in which it will look at how
Soldiers perform, how the system helps them recover, and what the Army can
do better to provide the care, support and services Warriors in Transition
and Families deserve, equal to their sacrifices.
Why is this important to the Army?
The Army gets its best results from highly motivated Soldiers and Families.
The payoff from retaining those motivated, experienced Warriors is enormous,
and the Army will honor its debt to Soldiers and Families by ensuring they
receive the best care and support possible. This Comprehensive Care Plan is
the Army's commitment to honor that debt. A healed Soldier and Family is the
Army's payment.
