SENIOR LEADERS ARE SAYING
"If we do not succeed in Iraq, we will leave behind a Middle East which will
endanger America in the future," President George W. Bush said in an
interview which aired Jan. 14 on the CBS News program "60 Minutes."
TODAY'S FOCUS
Army Reserve Family Programs Capabilities
What is it? Since September 11, 2001, events in the world have transformed
the Army Reserve in many ways. Army Reserve Family Programs has also
undergone a transformation to meet the needs of increased mobilizations and
the move to the Army Reserve Expeditionary Force model.
What has the Army done? As families have diverse sets of needs, family
programs have developed capabilities to meet the need of Soldiers and their
families in the future. The Family Programs capabilities include:
* Program Management
* Child and Youth Services
* Command Consultation and Support
* Information, Referral and Follow-up
* Mobilization, Deployment and Reintegration
* Marketing
* Crisis Response
* Partnerships
* Outreach
* Training and Development
* Volunteer Management
What efforts does the Army plan to continue in the future? The Army Reserve
Family Programs Division will continue to enhance the online information
portal, www.arfp.org <http://www.arfp.org> to better serve the needs of the
Soldier and their family 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Family education
and awareness are major components of readiness. The portal was designed to
provide a comprehensive collection of the latest information and resources
of interest to families of Army Reserve Soldiers. The increasing number of
visitors to the site has demonstrated the value of the information being
delivered via the Internet.
Why is this important to the Army? This program is a force multiplier and
retention tool through developing services and activities that are relevant
to today's Army Reserve Soldiers and their families.
