</p><h2>TODAY'S FOCUS</h2><p><b>The 9th Annual Worldwide Army Antiterrorism Conference, Jan. 26 - 30, 2009</b><br>

<b>What is it?</b><br>
<br>
The Office of the Provost Marshal General, in close coordination with the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, is hosting the 2009 Worldwide Army Antiterrorism (AT) Conference, Jan. 26 - 30 at the Shades of Green Military Resort in Orlando, Fla. This conference will provide a forum for Army command, Army service component command, direct reporting unit, and Army National Guard AT representatives to reinforce AT program improvements and changes over the last year; provide a common operating picture for Army AT; share knowledge and broaden perspectives; and to facilitate the exchange of ideas and best practices. Over 300 AT representatives from across the Army are expected to attend.<br>
<br>
The conference theme is <i>"Tempering the Weapon - Broadening Perspectives on Antiterrorism.”</i> The goal of this year’s conference is to educate and professionally develop Army AT personnel; build synergy for AT strategic goals and initiatives; and involve AT officers in solving key issues impacting the program. The conference will feature a combination of training, briefings, workshops and panel discussions. Key topics and issues to be addressed are: unit and stand-alone facility AT programs, intelligence support to AT, AT doctrine development, AT resource requirements development and validation, and AT measures in contracting.<br>

<b>Why is it important to the Army? </b><br>
<br>
The Army accepts as reality the intent of those that would use terrorism as a tool to destroy people, disrupt our mission, and deter us from our responsibilities. In turn we accept the obligations to not only prevent terrorist attacks targeting the Army community, but to respond effectively to an attack should an enemy attempt to break through our protective posture. The entire Army must be involved with this important endeavor so that every organization, every unit, and every person that is part of the Army community understands their role and responsibilities. All leaders must insist on effective anti-terrorism measures. Through resourcefulness and careful planning Army strengths will prevail over terrorists’ intent. In turn there is little doubt that we will successfully prevent terrorist attacks and are ready to respond to an attack if necessary.<br>
