</p><h2>TODAY'S FOCUS</h2><p><b>Lucky Warrior commences, transforms U.S. Army Central </b><br>
<br>
<b>What is it? </b><br>
<br>
Lucky Warrior is a computer-generated command post exercise conducted by U.S. Army Central (USARCENT ) that tests the staff’s ability to receive, interpret, disseminate and respond to information. The Lucky Warrior exercise replicates campaign joint force situations that test USARCENT’s operational joint force land component command capabilities and lead it towards full spectrum operations certification.<br>
<br>
As part of its mission to provide U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) with an expeditionary, warfighting headquarters capable of conducting simultaneous offensive, defensive and stability operations, USARCENT has increased the capability of its deployable command post. Lucky Warrior exercises USARCENT’s ability to quickly deploy its operational command post to the USCENTCOM area of responsibility to command and control full spectrum operations.<br>

Lucky Warrior is conducted with support from units and agencies at Ft. Bragg, N.C., Ft. McPherson, Ga., McDill Air Force Base, Fl., U.S. Army Europe, and Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.<br>

<b>What has the Army done? </b><br>
<br>
In 2006, the Department of the Army initiated USARCENT’s transformation by designating it the Army Service Component Command (ASCC) to USCENTCOM with Title 10 responsibilities and authorities, reporting directly to Department of the Army. A significant aspect of this transformation was the Army’s assignment of subordinate units to USARCENT, in various command relationships, whose dedicated focus to the region enables this headquarters to shift its efforts towards becoming the Army’s first fully transformed and only ASCC committed to the current fight. In December 2007, the Army chief of staff directed USARCENT to reach full spectrum capability by mid-2008. Since that time USARCENT has been moving at a rapid pace towards this end. Lucky Warrior is a critical milestone in achieving this goal and attaining full spectrum operations certification.<br>

<b>Why is this important to the Army? </b><br>
<br>
U.S. Army Central is the only forward-deployed ASCC, “standing in the door” to provide the Army and Central Command with strategic flexibility as a viable option to respond to any contingency across the region. The Lucky Warrior exercise provides the platform for full spectrum operations certification. Once certified, USARCENT provides the combatant commander with an expeditionary warfighting headquarters capable of conducting simultaneous offensive, defensive and stability operations.<br>
