TODAY'S FOCUS

New ListServ for Stand-To!

Stand-To! subscribers will now be
receiving the daily Stand-To! by way of a ListServ. ListServ enables a more
efficient distribution method for sending out Stand-To!. At this time, there are
almost 10,000 subscribers to Stand-To! and a solution had to be found in order
to send Stand-To! out each day with greater ease. The ListServ will enable
subscribers to receive Stand-To! in a way that will use far less space.

This action has been taken in response to the concerns from many
subscribers regarding the very large email which was generated by Stand-To! in
its previous form. The new ListServ will enable readers to receive the daily
newsletter without the space concerns on their computers.

Once you
receive Stand-To! from the new email address, which is Stand-To@www.lists.army.mil,
you need not perform any further action. The earlier email you received from the
Stand-To! address supplies a link and password that can be used to unsubscribe.
The only change you will notice is the different address in the "from" line. The
formatting and content will remain the same as it is now, and you should not
experience any differences.

In the next few months, Stand-To! may have
additional features added, but at this time, the staff of Stand-To! is
researching and testing new ways to improve the quality of the publication and
the delivery methods. Suggestions and feedback are helpful are always
encouraged.

Your patience and continued support of Stand-To! is
appreciated.

INFORMATION YOU CAN USE

Loss Reporting Automation System

The Army Combat Readiness
Center (CRC) has become a knowledge center for all losses, whether they occur in
combat, by accident, or by other means.

The CRC developed the Army's
Loss Reporting Automation System (LRAS) as a "system of systems" designed to
provide an Army-level structure for collecting and reporting all loss
information. LRAS is comprised of three sub-components; the Accident Reporting
Automation System (ARAS), the Combat Reporting Automation System (CRAS), and the
Other Reporting Automation System (ORAS).

CRAS is an online automation
tool collecting all combat loss from combatant commanders, staff, and safety
professionals. This loss information will be used at the Army-level to develop
long-term predictive analysis tools that fully implement Composite Risk
Management.

ORAS, similar to ARAS and CRAS, collects and reports loss
information from other agencies, such as Medical Command and the Judge Advocate
General.

Additionally, the CRC has developed "initial notification"
tools for LRAS. The initial notification reports allow the CRC to provide
Preliminary Loss Reports (PLR) back to the Army, assign investigation teams, and
begin the analysis process in order to help prevent future loss.

LRAS
will continue to have a significant impact on the way the Army collects,
analyzes, and uses loss report data for the prevention of future loss. ARAS,
CRAS, and ORAS are designed to be the pillars of the Combat Readiness Center's
mission as a knowledge center for all loss. When fully developed, LRAS will
provide the Army with an accurate reporting system, integrated with the Army's
automation processes, which collects data on loss, as well as near miss
information, in order to link predictive analysis and loss
prevention.
